Tee-hee! The hard plastic blue loos blues. Who hasn’t ever had them? I won’t be surprised if Coach wrote this himself.

I met her outside Fresno dead all over;I can still recall the Stassin pin she wore; She was chewin’ on a hangnail on her elbows, and I knew that she would be a crashing bore;My Pooh Bear said I’d hate her dog forever; She said to me she’d have a swiss on rye;But who’d have thought she’d bobsled on a surfboard;I never had the chance to say goodbye.

Actually, it’s pretty good. (Thanks Caufield!). How many songs have you heard about road construction and traffic delays? There is a fine line between country and blues. I do assume they are reciting random phrases from the song, because they don’t rhyme. BTW, what’s a loos?

The “End Construction” signs that the construction crews put up always makes me think of protest signs.

How does she know that Caulfield wrote it? What he says usually makes sense.

Real blues are iambic pentameter – see Leonard Bernstein’s famous TV lecture on the subject. He turned "I will not fear for death nor bane [repeat with “I said”] Till Birnam woods comes to high Dunsinane" into the MacBeth Blues.

“Why would Caulfield use a British term like “loos”. No American would understand that.”

The point is that Frazz understands it, and Miss Plainwell understands it, but Coach Hacker wouldn’t understand it. That’s the giveaway that it was Caulfield.

Out of Africa, the blues developed a pentatonic scale while Europe kept the octave. The blues may have migrated to Europe and America, but the 7 note scale did not get lost, be it a sax, a guitar or a voice.

Another difference, the blues brought by the black man had a distinctive lyric pattern. The first line states a problem (lost your mate), the second repeats the problem, the third embellishes, and the forth is possible solution or accepting loss. Having never been subjected to country (save when drafted), is that the lyric pattern,Do Blues player wear rhindstones?

Lew, they are actually very similar. They both have the 1, 4, 5 chord structure, they both are done in 3/4 or 4/4 time. Not sure what you are saying about the vocals, but both depend heavily on what is being described in the song. In both, the words are almost everything. And any song from either genre could be turned into a jazz improv that would make you flip your wig and leave you with your hair on backwards…

I meant to say this earlier, but, hopefully better late than never- Seed_drill, that was too cute. And Monkeyblues, excellent! Did you write that? I’ll be thinking of Larry, Darryl and Darryl whenever I’m stuck in a barrel jam from now on.
