I, too, want to be surprised when “my time comes” as well, but there are plenty of non-life-threatening ailments out there that really $uck, and aren’t as bad or can be prevented with proper medical care; good luck avoiding those.
It’s hard to know how our “leadership” can live with themselves.
I guess people in Britain are terrified that their government is about to foist an “American-style” medical system on them. Yay on them, they’re not only terrified — they’re livid, and they’re fighting any changes that would/could take away from a system that covers them all.
There are civilized and evolving spots in the world… but we in the US aren’t in one.

The best deal I ever had was a 75¢ appendectomy. I had one of those two week camper policies and midway through, I slowly curled up in pain.
