Um, no, HOWGOZIT, exactly the opposite. They had a deal — Boehner bailed out. Obama offered a BETTER deal (and I wasn’t fond of the first one) and got a near-revolt from his own party, and Boehner bailed AGAIN. The conclusion by one writer? Boehner can’t actually deliver on a deal. None. So Obama might as well put forth a deal that both sides can deal with, since the hard-core GOP will say no to everything. And has.
Interestingly, the mood of the general public I come in contact with here in coastal North Carolina (and the Norfolk area) is one of “this is utter foolishness”…the general public being just that—-a healthy cross section of our roughly 50/50 split political demographic. Perhaps in a warped kinda way, both parties will benefit from this impotent standoff…America really is capable of far better.
“The conclusion by one writer? Boehner can’t actually deliver on a deal. None.”Probably not just one writer. I had read an article a week or two ago that postulates that Boehner can’t get enough vote from his own party to secure any kind of deal with the Dems. Apparently the Tea Party faction refuses any kind compromise what so ever.
Bawl Baby Boehner has done nothing but weep about the “poor billionaire tax burden”, no cooperation, no care for the Republic or the economy, only his corporate masters served, thank you very much, not!
that’s about where we are. Even republicans get old. There are poor republicans too. Boehner doesn’t care and beginning to look like Obama doesn’t either.
Both sides pretend the debt is the real problem while working and unemployed Americans continue to suffer, because they don’t have any big-money lobbyists on their side.
Boehner is playing with America’s future. Eric Cantor is already betting in the futures market that the US will default. He’s hoping the US defaults and he can cleanup in the stock market. What rock did Virginia’s voters find him under?

The losers are the American people, who voted in Republicans in 2004 and 2010.
