Wrong. Just because Knute might be the only one to actually have based the rumor in truth doesn’t mean that one of the others (I’m thinking Tiffany here) couldn’t have started it all by themselves.
In Gunther’s mind it’s so far from the truth as to have no basis, so he won’t associate it with what he told Knute.
knute kinda reminds me of TJ in some ways
