While I didn’t look forward to heading back to school, during my junior high years I used to look forward to smelling the fresh cinnamon (coffee) cake being baked for morning recess. Can still remember how tasty it was some 40 years later…..thanks LAUSD cooks! You guys were the best!!

MARG! Mine was okay. Only got up to about80 Sunday. Will be in the mid 70’s the rest ofthe week. Wish i could send you some of this cooler weather where you live.

Pasquale (of Rose is Rose) would have no comprehension at all of this strip. He’d be as giddy as Broomie about going back to school.

Broomie’s reaction seems to reflect an appreciable segment of the parent/guardian population. But Nerwin is notably more negative than I recall myself or most of my friends ever being back in the day; back-to-school meant renewing friendships and having new adventures, with only a passing regret for the loss of vacation/free time.

I didn’t see that Staples commercial this year, but that was funny.

Oh doom and gloom!
