Adam: Gosh, I'm pale. I wonder if I should get a little bronzer. I'd be too embarrassed to buy it at the pharmacy, though. I still haven't recovered emotionally from buing that Jackie Collins novel at the airport. It was seriously the only thing they had that I hadn't read. I can feel the clerk's eyes on me still. Laughing at me, judging me. That from a guy in a royal blue vest and an "I'd rather be spelunking" t-shirt.

Couple of things that can be taken away from this:A) Adam’s daydreams are obviously generous to his hairlineB) Guys who read Jackie Collins’ books should have to endure the eternal bane of embarassment.

I almost have you beat, Adam. I have a Starfleet uniform in my closet. It’ll be making an appearance next month. I’m already kinda pale, so I might be Data this time around.

If the Jackie Collins novel was, in truth, the only thing at the airport Adam hadn’t read (however unlikely that may seem, we must take his word for it), he has little to be embarrassed about. Desperate times call for desperate measures: “any port in a storm”, a starving man will eat rat, better to read Jackie Collins than have nothing to read at all.
On the other hand, consider the kinds of books you find at the airport: if he’d read EVERYTHING else, then he’d certainly have read much WORSE than Jackie Collins. Maybe he’d even read “Twilight”, or the works of Ann Coulter…

I have a starfleet uniform too, the blue one (sewed it myself) from the first season of Next Generation.
