I was angry at my daughter’s first wedding that my ex was getting the honor of “giving her away” while I was hosting all the out of town guests (including him and his GF) at an expensive dinner. I told her he needed to apologise for the times he had tried to strangle me or had beaten me up, but he just said he’d never done anything that needed an apology ;-(
