lutherg1, “Leo” (or “leonis”) is simply Latin for “lion”, and “Cancer” (“cancris”) is Latin for “crab.” The Latin for “scorpion” is “scorpionis”, hence “Scorpio.”
Consider youself lucky; at least you got an entire animal. “Capricorn” is simply the horns of a goat, and not the whole goat (fish-tailed or otherwise).
