    You are right the quote was from the first book “Tarzan Of The Apes”—it opens with—“I had this story from one who had no business to tell it to me—” -The book ends with: "Clayton saying; “if it’s any of my business, how did you ever get into the bally jungle in the first place?” "I was born there " said Tarzan quietly ,“My Mother was an Ape, she couldn’t tell me anything about it, I never knew who my father was”. Philip Jose Farmer later wrote and anthology“Mother was a lovely beast”.
