Could it be…..that Burl does it so he can have an uninterrupted hour with the whole box of Ho-Hos? And just what “small wonder” does Verl like? Jerry, are you there, or have you “hung” up?
Haha, yep. If the phone rings and I am by a computer I will type in the number from the CallerID and if it shows up with “Have you been called by this number…” I don’t bother answering. If you happen to make a mistake and answer it, you are screwed, they will never let you rest. The longest I have ever had one of those watts-line jockeys call where I have never answered is three times, then they give up, thinking everyone is working or something. Now people like Burl, they are in a special class all by themselves. LOL When you talk about people who are dumb as a stump, the people on their street would fit to a t.
My wife and I used to have fun with telemarketers until they came out with the ‘do not call’ program a few years ago. If a woman was on when I answered I would get flirty, than in the most lustful voice I would ask, “what are you wearing right now?” more than one hung up on me…how rude.
I immediately figured it was an excuse for Ho-hos (even I used to like those as a kid-not any of the others tho’). The only thing he missed is the coffeepot for refills (or a pitcher of cold milk-NAH! that’s too healthy). First time I’ve seen “Uh-huh” on one of their cups; not sure about “I’m talking”. Panel 2 has a single loop in the bubble that some took as a fingernail the other day;speech bubbles do that fairly often here.
1. Don’t think it’s Patty. An earlier Burl and Joy with most of Burl hidden.2. “Dial M for Moron”-the house movie. Good.3. Talk to the telemarketers in gibberish or faux foreign. It’s also good to talk to them for a bit and seem enthusiastic then come in with a gruff voice and yell at the salesperp about bothering your “crazy old Uncle Chuck”.
I always answer the phone. Once they start talking, I put it down and walk away. It takes a while before they get it, and wastes their time. They tend not to call back…grin.
Dear DS friends, I expect to be hors de combat for at least a couple of weeks, maybe more depending on the drugs. To torture the naval metaphor, I am going into the shipyard (hospital) tomorrow for some repair work. They are going to replace the bearing on the port propeller shaft (knee rep’l). I had asked for an overhaul of the engines (make me go faster) a paint job (look better) and to re-gun the main battery (well. you know…) Because of budget cuts, none of that is going to happen. Too bad. See you later. Drive carefully, Leaky!
Susan, I have IE 7, haven’t updated since I never use it so maybe that’s the difference in why I saw them. Was using Firefox until just recently when I tried Chrome because Google toolbar is no longer being updated for FF and that’s where I have all my bookmarks. Only complaint about Chrome is that I prefer my tabs on the bottom and I haven’t found an add-on that works for that. The Yet Another Google Bookmark Extension works just like the bookmarks icon on the Google toolbar so I will definitely stay with Chrome for the foreseeable future. I really like having my bookmarks instantly available from any computer.
Mikie I had both knees replaced at the same time, have no regrets what so ever. Can ride my bike 27 miles at one time.Best of luck, and do your exercises. You’ll be ship-shape in no time!

Mikie — Hope this isn’t too late for you to see before you go.
Just wanted to wish you luck — not that you’ll need it cos I’m sure you’ll be in good hands.
If they can’t afford a full paint job, maybe while you’re on up on the ways they can at least scrape a few barnacles and check the bottom paint.
That WWii cold plastic does wear out.
We’ll see you when you’re back to harbor.
Haven’t had time for the comics today — see the rest of you later……
