Two things he had immediate control over: Closing Gitmo and withdrawing from Iraq. One took two years to start (and isn’t finished yet) and the other is never going to happen.
Also, he could have refused to sign the legisilation that extended the Bush tax cuts until it was rewritten to just have an increase on teh wealthiest. But to be fair, he never promised that he wouldn’t fill his cabinet and advisory staff with Wall Street mavens like Larry Summers and Tim the tax cheat. Geithner.
After hearing Obama denounced as everything from a communist out to destroy Wall Street to a fascist in league with Wall Street, I’ve come to the conclusion that his critics are saying more about themselves than they are about him.
