Excellent ‘toon. The dingbats protesting the “rich” don’t have sense enough to realize that many of their “colleagues” are uber rich themselves. I think all these rich people who are protesting that people aren’t paying enough taxes should feel free to stop using the various loop-holes to avoid taxes. It’s a free country…..
^Lots of documentation on that, fennec, all of it. Due to poor “coverage” haven’t seen that much of the “Wall Street warriors”, but they have a sense of humor as well as purpose, and that ticks off “the man” something fierce, as “the Man” is the one whose been screwing us all, especially for the last 25 years or so.
Tea seems the fruit of the poisoned tree, evidence wise, all gathered and distributed quite immorally and often, illegally.
It is time for a new T. R., and a Congress with some “brass ones”, when all we’ve got now is tinfoil and gum chewers.
The protesters know exactly what they are protesting (corporate welfare, tax cuts, and deregulation to name a few). They are peacefully demonstrating and the police are pepper spraying them on purpose. What Rosanne Barr says has as much merit as Glenn Beck saying that people should shoot liberals in the head. To me it seems that Summers has the first and third panels backwards. Why else would a guy in a wheel chair be protesting against a law that is to his benefit?
I think my favorite fact about socialism is that in Soviet Russia, a doctor and an auto mechanic were considered the same. They got the same housing, the same rations, the same allowances.
.
Because they do the same job, right? They fix things that are broken based on their experience and education.
Seriously? Dana Summers truly believes the ideas in this strip? OOooookay…so that’s not a real sharp mind there. Yeah, Barr’s comments were inflammatory, but it isn’t unfair to ask the rich to pay in their share. They get exorbitant breaks just for being wealthy, and that’s not right. It isn’t mindless to want them to pay their way. The protestors aren’t all protesting the same things, but they know what they’re upset about. Tea Party folks may have SOME sane ideas, but overall, they’re not really thinking things through. They certainly don’t look at the particulars or grasp the consequences. This is a stupid strip.
I think the point of the toon, which seems to be lost on many, is the fact that those protestors of the Wall-street sit-in thingy (I won’t degrade the word “warrior” by calling them Wall Street Wa… whatever’s) only have a very mild and tame idea of why they are there: Punish the wealthy corporations. That’s the main gist of it all. So let’s punish these corporate giants… that employ hundreds of thousands of Americans. Great idea. /sarcasmCompare this to the Tea Party whose foci include eliminating wasteful spending, giving more power back to the people, limited government, and reducing the debt. They don’t get violent, they don’t scream and shout. They hold peaceful gatherings like at the Lincoln Memorial. Yes, there are some on the lunatic fringe, but at least they know the why.
there has not been violence on the part of the protesters. They are non-violennt citizens practicing fee speech and peacefully assembling. The police should be protecting them not attacking them.

Wow! What a weak line of defense for the Tea Party! How much money did Wall Street pay you for this “gem”?

“Cutting the budget is fine, giving all the money to rich people is insane” … Solution: Remove FICA Cap and Itemized Deductions .

You’re asking Republicans/Tea baggers to read? Are you insane? It might educate them and make them question their beliefs.
