If youā€™re sick enough, your cough will wake you up.

Leaky is playing hooky tonight. Good morning all Crustwoodians!

That should be ā€˜Baby Aspirinā€™ and Cherry flavor cough medicine. She takes care of him, just like his mommy did when he was a little boy.

Good morning Marg ā€” and the rest of Crustwood, when you get here.

ā€œ24-hour Pain in the Neck.ā€The pharmacist called that one right!

Poor Burly-poo has a widdle coldā€¦. and Momma Joy can have fun pampering him yet again.

He needs to know whether heā€™s coughing, so he can decide whether to call in sick tomorrow.

After all, he could be feeling fine, and make the mistake of going inā€¦.. when he actually coughed three times in the night and should take the day off.

The ā€œClownā€ label is right over his head ā€” he can share it with the picture.

The ZZZā€™s are clear to seeā€¦..and if you listen closely, youā€™ll hear some coming from me, soon -hopefully earlier than usual.

    Nighty-night, baby Burlā€¦.

It happened again ā€” I refreshed the list and then the whole page just before submitting my comment, and only Margā€™s first post showed upā€¦..and then mine under it.

Coming back in a few minutes later, I see I repeated some of what OddBall already said.

Sorry, OddBall ā€” yours was invisible when I posted. And Good Morning!

Anyway, Iā€™d forgotten to say that when I e-mailed Julie yesterday to thank her, she answered me againā€¦

She mentioned that the images she submits for publication are far larger than what they post for us.

Sheā€™d already said sheā€™d be checking with the syndicate about themā€¦. so letā€™s hope it all works.

And for anybody who missed it ā€” I e-mailed Julie Larson with a couple of our questions

and she kindly posted a long reply on yesterdayā€™s forumā€¦. take a look!

Poor baby Burl. Youā€™re right, SS, he might cough in the night, and accidently go to work. The horror!

note the tuner knobs on the TV, and neither of them has a remoteā€¦ā€¦too cheap to buy a new (<40 years old) tv?

I canā€™t imagine Burl without a remote. The TV could have a knob and a remote, though if he had one Iā€™m sure it would be lying on his tummy right now. Iā€™m very disillusioned.

Thanks, Susan, for e-mailing Julie, and thanks to Julie for her reply on the forum. Sheā€™s truly a wonderful person. Iā€™ve had dealings with her in the past and she went above and beyond to help me with a very nice Dinette Set gift for a friend who was attending a High School reunion. One of her panels was a PERFECT commentary on how our high school was, way back when, and I asked her if I could buy an autographed print. She even autographed it to my friend. They presented it to him at the banquet, and he talks about it to this day.

Iā€™ve always liked reading The Dinette Set, but ever since Julie was so gracious, itā€™s become my favourite comic.

I agree thank you Susan, both for emaililng Ms. Larson and passing the word about the response.

I always wondered if the cartoonists come on here to read the responses of their readers. Aparently not all of them do. I suppose they do have other things to work on, and there are probably quite a few forum sites that it would probaly take a chunk of the day to check them all. I rather they put that time/energy into their art.

Poor Burl, does he hurts and gots a temperature? Ok, how many of you can tell me where I got that quote from? You may be showing your age here if you do. Which means, of course, I just dated myself.

    See ya everybody

Iā€™ve often wondered how large an original Dinette Set comic isā€¦Guess the only thing I havenā€™t seen asked is black and white versus color on the daily panel.

Something strange is going on. Todayā€™s comic and the most recent ones have been small and b/w. I just clicked back through the last several to read comments and the panels were now large and color! Then I came back to todayā€™s and itā€™s also large and color! ??? Did they just get retroactively updated?

    Wow!! Willya look at that!

No, mythreesons, not my complaining. I merely asked Julie whether the new, small B/W gifs were her choice or UClickā€™s, and whether they were re-runs as some said.

As I said above, I also let her know, in Kb, the sizes being run.

She said sheā€™d speak to the syndicate and Iā€™m assuming she did, for which I just thanked her, again.(Yes, my Mama taught me to be insufferably polite. Yay Julie!

And yeah, Purple Sky, she seems very nice, indeed.

Phil, since she re-uses panels, Iā€™m guessing the ā€œoriginal originalsā€ were pretty large.

All I know is she said she submits them (electronically, I presume) at 400Kb.

They donā€™t look like theyā€™re lettered on a computer so maybe she prints out large blank copies to hand letter ā€”

orā€¦. maybe she does use a Wacom tablet or something similar.

ElGuapo ā€“ all I did was e-mail, which anybody canā€¦.

    soā€¦.. sniffleā€¦. I donā€™t consider myself ā€œconnnectedā€ā€¦.

Well, except, of course, for my NOT R.Crumb original rOdd Perry avatar [nyah nyah nyahā€¦ :) ]

Hope you saw the Terry Zwigoff movie. One of the most strangely compelling films I ever saw.

And Iā€™m a 60ā€™s hippie too ā€” in both senses.

I only just returned to get this lovely gift!

I actually came back because I saw on evening news of the passing of Bill Keene who lived here in the valley. Family Circus was always a pleasant cartoon among the many that I read. Nice to see that his son will take over.
