Gene sees Ruth at school. He hands her a rose and says, "Happy Valentine's Day, Ruth!" Ruth, amazed, exclaims, "A rose! A single red rose!" Gene remarks, "It isn't much.." Ruth, excited, screams, "Oh, Gene! It's so utterly perfect!" Ruth checks to see if the coast is clear. Ruth throws herself at Gene and kisses him.
