Gladys: You bought Wilberforce a watermelon to carve for his jack-o'-lantern?
Gladys: What were you thinking?
Brutus: Have you seen the price of pumpkins this year?
Texas lost half its pumpkin crop to the drought. Drought may not be as exciting as hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods, but it has been very destructive, especially where it led to devastating wildfires.
Took the words right out of my mouth. georgelsmith. How rude! And not very sanitary either. Seriously, (on a comic page?!!) it is sad to see the devestation in both spheres.
a huge portion of the east coast lost the pumpkin crop in flooding from Hurricane Irene. and you all know that when product is scarce the price goes up!! I would rather eat the watermelon mistakes anyway!! and you can practice all summer long!
We grow our own pumpkins. We don’t have much of a garden and I live in Arizona, but a few plants will give you more pumpkins than you could ever use. We usually give a bunch of them to the grandkids school.

The East had water problems this year, so no gourds. Should have bought a boat load here and made a trip eastward.
