TOTALLY clueless as to how the Swiss army really works. This comic is funny sometimes, but this one is really, REALLY lame.
Liberals would go NUTS if they knew that the Swiss require EVERY able bodied male to be in the army, be fully trained, and have their weapons at home with them all the time. Oh, by the way, weapons means GUNS – rifles, pistols, etc.
In the 1400s the Swiss threw out the Hapsburgs from their ancestral lands (mostly), and also took out the Duke of Burgundy. They won buy carefully choosing allies in their wars, and by having a people’s army with effective weapons and discipline.++++On the other hand, “Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love – they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.” ( The Third Man, 1949)

Oh, I’m all for the Swiss. It’s a family thing, you know.
One of my ancestors was on the Graubunden delegation to sign the Treaty of Kappel in 1529.

The Swiss don’t even bother training their infantry to shoot closer than 200 meters. That’s the beginners targets.
