I can’t remember the name of the worst ever treat made in Canada Haven’t seen them here. I think they were called Halloween Kisses and they were this horrible mix of taffee & molasses. They were horrible, but my Mom loved to buy them.
It was impossible to track this disgusting treat down, since all the pages are full of Hershey’s Kisses. This was all I was able to find…and it’s a page that supports this treat of all things: http://www.taddlecreekmag.com/molasses-the-ultimate-treat
Growing up in FL I remember getting pecans, oranges, tangerines and kumquats. But we never considered those bad treats. And pennies were always okay too, because we could go to the corner store and get loads of penny candy when the Halloween goodies were gone. I cannot, personally, remember any bad treats. However, a friend once told me that someone handed out political brochures in their neighborhood on election years.
A woman came running down the stairs in a Union Suit and yelled trick or treat and we had to give her some of our candy. Yes, I know, that was a trick. I never forgot that old broad.
Don’t remember getting any bad treats. When I was a kid, we got mostly home made stuff, like candy apples and popcorn balls. Sometimes cookies or fudge. Never tricked anyone either. The folks would have grounded us till next Halloween if we had.
