mom: it's amazing how discolored the wall is around where the picture was hanging dad: yeah mom: well, if we're going to paint this room, what color should we go with? should we match the carpet color, or the sofa color? dad: let's match this wall color and just paint the spot where the picture was.

Match the carpet; It’s a lot cheaper to replace the sofa.

Dad’s idea won’t work since the color of the new paint will not match the rest of the room.
Personally. I like (off white) color IT seems to go with everything.

Dad’s idea just won’t work. the new paint will stand out. They will have to do the whole thing. Personally, I like antique white. It seems to go with everything.
