I don’t get it, Pastis! Pig runs around all day, naked as a jaybird, and then when he goes to sleep, he puts on his jammies??? What’s up with that?

I think that pigs rabbit slippers are the closest I’ve seen to any Pearls characters wearing shoes. And on a side note I suppose it isn’t quite as racially charged if you are making fun of your own demographic as previously mentioned. Does anyone else think that Pastis is conducting his own little social experiment with this strip?

I think it was all getting cued in with the phrase: “oppressive silence…”. Then, Pig thought, “you’re right! It IS getting oppressive in my bedroom! That’s why I can’t settle down to sleep!” I mean, obviously… :P

Exoticdoc2,my daughter’s family in Wisconsin had a white lawn man for awhile. Come to think of it, my husband and I have a white lawn man in Florida – the one before him, who retired, was white also. We live in an integrated neighborhood, and would hire an African American lawn man (or woman) with no problem, if our present one left. Anyhow, I thought this strip’s punch line was laugh-out-loud funny.

. . . and none of our lawn-care people have been “illegals,” and all were Caucasian.

I’m “white” and I didn’t find this offensive. Lawncare people in this midwest area are usually white. I don’t believe Stephan had any intent to offend.

Stephen Pastis is a Bigot!

After goat mentioned white noise, I was hoping for a punchline involving Don Delillo’s novel, but I suppose that would be too esoteric for Pig.

There is only one race: the human race! Nobody seems to get that today! It is wrong to treat people differently based on skin color, and believe me, racism spews from the mouths of people of all skin colors: white, black, yellow, red, brown, blue, etc. (kidding about the blue, but I’m just making a point.)

Regarding this comic, it’s kinda funny. Not one of his funnier jokes, but it is typical Pig (taking things literally). But you just know that if it had been a joke like BLACKground noise, there would be some thin-skinned whimp somewhere screaming about how racist the comic was. The double standard of today’s politically correct society is so stupid!

I think he needs to launder his whites. With more bleach.
