Goat: Where were you guys? Rat: Seeing that new 4D movie. Goat: 4D? The fourth dimension is time. Rat: Yeah. The movie ends before it starts. Goat: Never mind. Rat: Strange things happen in the fourth dimension. Pig: Look! My popcorn's still warm.

If you’ve never seen “Primer” I highly recommend it. Be warned, you won’t understand it the first 3 times you watch.

isn’t 4th dimension, time?
tegm almost 13 years ago
4th dimension isn’t necessarily time. If you go strictly geometrically, it’s hyperspace and has nothing to do with time.

I already read all of today’s comments, yesterday. Some are really funny. Not this one , though.

Back in the day, I never really like the Fifth Dimension….
But 40 years later I’m still humming “Stoned Soul Picnic”….
Even at that, I like Laura Nyro’s own version better….
Never mind.

What did you think of the comment I will submit tomorrow?
YatInExile almost 13 years ago
Not only is the popcorn still warm, it’s probably fresh too.

This comic seems familar. I think I read it next week.

I’ve been to movies that I wished had ended before it began.

Did they see “Memento”?

I really want a movie theater to try to pull this one off. There would be plenty of people who would pay the $11 just to be able to brag about “seeing a 4-D movie.” It’s the perfect scam—one that a certain crowd will actually want to be victim to.

The theater was a miracle of Gallifreyan engineering.

Back in the day — a long day ago — a reader of Astounding Science Fiction (later renamed Analog) wrote in reviews (previews?) of the issue to be published a year later, with titles and authors and at least a bit about story lines. The editor, John Campbell, spent the year negotiating with his authors, and lo and behold, a year later, the issue appeared as reviewed a year earlier.

Even though I do enjoy PBS (The only comic I read) I think I look forward to the comments more than the actual strip.

Having a movie end before it begins would be useful if you’re at an Adam Sandler film

Paging Dr Who! (or at least Dr Mel from Brewster Rockit; they did a similar joke a while back in one of their Sunday strips.)

Radish…. I imagine that really IS the short version!
LOL…
But I do remember those days.
And those nude beaches — though the only one I ever actually went to wasn’t a beach at all, but the hot springs from the natural geysers north of here (Sonoma County CA).

If in 4D the movie ends before it starts, but let’s say you like the movie so much you don’t want it to end…doesn’t that make 4D disappointing?
SusanSunshine Premium Member almost 13 years ago
Wow, Overton — thanks! Not so sure at this age, though… LOL
That was the great thing about the Geysers back then — babies to old folks, fat, thin… hippies, gays, straights.
Nobody asked and nobody cared.
Now it’s a PG&E plant.
