The only way to get them to last a long time is to leave them on a long time. I’ve had some only last a month. Kinda defeats the purpose, too bad they don’t give off any usable light.

Energy saving….perhaps. But don’t ask what they do when they break in landfills. Oy!

I can’t afford them and I wouldn’t use them even if I could. Just more toxic waste.

Due to pressures to make them cheap and fast the quality and reliability suffers. Be sure to save your receipts and write the date of install on the bulb with a sharpie. Most stores will exchange or refund if one doesn’t last as long as expected. I’ve had a few duds, but most have lasted for years even with frequent turning on and off.

Modern ones give off pleasant light and most large stores will accept burned-out ones for safe disposal/recycling.

Nevertheless the Fox news fans will ignore all the facts and look for any reason to gripe.

Aren’t these new lights florescent? Some people get headaches from florescent lights. Besides which, that type of light is supposed to only save energy if it’s left on a lot. Also, I think it flickers more, which can be a problem.

So are you saying people who never watch Fox never gripe? Wow, I didn’t know.
