Sacking an embassy, ANY embassy, but especially an ally’s embassy used to be considered an act of war or hadn’t you noticed that? But hey, It’s only the English -according to Obama. The British Embassy and consulate were sacked by a state organised mob. Lives were placed at risk. All Iranian diplomats have been removed from the UK.
Waving the mullah doll got Reagan elected, so he could sell them more arms, and use the money in Nicaragua, that worked out well. Are we SURE Ahmadinijad and the Grand Ayatollah aren’t on the GOP payroll? Seriously, think about it!
We have drones, EMPs, nukes, aircraft carriers, the costliest military in the world, and the best trained people IN our military. I support them, and the country, by saying we could spend less on junk, more on the “troops”, and stop trying to drum up more phony wars to get the troops killed, and waste still more on “toys” for the generals.
FEAR is the only tool in the conservative Republican toolbox. They haven’t figured out that killing folks is NOT the best way to “win friends and influence people”.
Islamic theocracy, and kingdoms like Saudi Arabia, aren’t amenable to our way of living or Constitution. Too many “religious” leaders in THIS country are JUST AS BAD, at wanting functional theocracy HERE as any ayatollah.
“I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office . . ., and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, against ALL ENEMIES foreign and DOMESTIC.” I took this oath on entering the military, and again in civilian service to this nation.
That oath includes the OBLIGATION to speak out when corporations, or individuals, are willing to destroy this nation for their personal gain, either power, or economic. Declaring war upon false cause and premise is a violation of that oath. Attempting to con the nation into yet another false war is again a violation and treason. Seeking reasonable accommodation, even with our self-created “enemies” makes more sense than casting aside the lives of our courageous citizens and soldiers for the profit of a few. A few, a portion of whom, refuse to accept any financial or personal burden for the true defense and advancement of our nation, and peace, freedom, and a democratic republic where ALL citizens have both equal rights AND responsibility. At no point does the Constitution either defend corporations as “people”, OR use the word “God”.
NO, I would never place any foreign power above the the good of our nation. Those willing to place “multi-national” corporations, often NOT even based in the U.S., above our own government’s responsibility IS true treason.
I love my country, and hold it responsible for it’s faults, as well as praise it for true courage. Too bad the radical right occupying so much in this nation, do not.
^You should have listened to Pat Robertson this morning. (It only take a few seconds for him to go nutso on every broadcast.) Also, Tom Friedman had an excellent column on our “relationship” with Israel and the few extreme folks HERE, who are actually behind (causing) most of the “problem”.
“Unlike others here, I’ve never found religious people to be particularly intollerent.”
Wanna see how bigoted our state really is? Try stepping out of Boca Raton for once. Go to a place like, oh Sebring, FL and tell them you’re Jewish. See what kind of a reception those mugwhamps give you. And Billy Graham? Really? He’s too busy making money to pay a lackey like you any mind (after all, religion is a h3ll of a bitnez).
