As you proceed in school, you will learn how to do this with the same time constraint for better and better results!

This is the same scenario as in “Happy New Year, Charlie Brown” except he had to read “War and Peace”.

Teachers who ruin vacations like that need to be given tons of homework when they retire!

Vacations should be just that…vacation! Give the poor kids a break to enjoy the holiday season, no assignments! I was quite lucky for the majority of my school years as far as that was concerned (college didn’t count) but there was always a few that liked to load on the assignments over Christmas and New Year. I think educators and students alike need that mental break. I sure did.

To be required to read an entire classic novel on a Christmas Holiday can only be considered cruel and unusual punishment!

Today CB would probably try to pass off a cut-and-paste from Wikipedia as his own work. Not long ago I went to the local university with a friend to pick up some books. Walking past a professor’s office, we heard an angry voice: “Do you honestly think I don’t know you copied that off the Internet?”No, kiddies—Wikipedia is not a valid source. Anyone can post anything there. Search “Flying Spaghetti Monster.”

I didn’t think Miss Othmar would be so cruel as to assign a 400 page book over Christmas!!

I just hope Charlie Brown doesn’t have to read such lengthy novels in the future.Teachers back then were drill instructors.

I should’ve said this at the beginning of the story arc: “What teacher assigns homework over Christmas Vacation?” I’m a teacher and I would never stoop to such a level. The Same goes for Charlie Brown New Year’s Eve, I wouldn’t assign a book report during the Christmas Vacation, let alone “War and Peace.”

Don’t worry Chuck. Your teacher was cruel to assign War and Peace over Christmas vacation. How could you have possibly finished it on time.
