Johnny… You went north again…. After yesterday’s eye I thought you were doing a piece by piece portrait.

And No. 6 (or whoever will explain…) the other day I saw instructions posted on another strip for that red lettering, but it said to use H2 etc which AFAIK only change the size and case.

What tag changes the color? The Old Wolf’s page doesn’t say, and the color tags I’ve tried don’t work here.

If you use bold with h2 you get red but a smaller font size.

    You type: <h2>*Hi Susan*</h2>We see:

    Hi Susan

You can also use the h5 heading styleYou type: <h5>Hi Susan</h5>We see:

    Hi Susan

Please, everyone, remember to use the closing tag for the HTML tag pair. <tag> text</tag>

    Wow it worked!

Dunno why bold makes some header text red..

Then again, I know very little about HTML.

Nor do I know how you make your examples post in a text font including mark-up, X_tech.

    But thanks again.

BTW I do always close my tags. I only tried leaving one open to see whether that made red text.

And sorry to anybody bored with this stuff, but sometimes I just gotta know!

    OK, g’night all!

    Hey, thanks everybody!

X_Tech, I see no effect on my profile comments. What do you see that I can’t?

I always use Firefox, as I’ve said before, because it’s way better for typing in this box — larger text, w/o enlarging the rest of the page. Plus spell check.

I can delete my comments regardless of HTML mistakes.

Between me and Larry we tested all those browsers but Safari, I think. I thought IE had a problem with it but my memory is hazy.

I should check my phone browsers; never thought of that.I seldom do “fancy typin” on the phone cos it’s tedious, though I do put in page breaks ( <br> ) if I’m not being lazy.

I usually put in >’s with the HTML entities but GoComics will sometimes display a single one right from the keyboard.

If it didnt, that was a > ….

Larry — yeah, I remember that’s why we were testing browsers, cos somebody made a comment he couldn’t close.

I also remember it was on a Brevity about guys on a ship swearing —

I wish gocomics had keyword search and 10-up display of results like comics.com.

And X_Tech — Firefox just seems to handle forums better.

It’s the only browser I’ve found where the comment box text enlarges enough for me to edit, with the bonus of the rest of the page staying the same size, so there are no startling headers and images that need to be scrolled.

(Text-only vs whole-page magnification is an option in the view menu.)

It handles HTML mistakes with more grace, as we see, and opens and closes faster on my PC.

I was OK with IE for years until I started spending time on the comics…. but I’ve never looked back.

I don’t usually use the reply function, for two reasons:

1.) It narrows the comment box and the text overscans. That could be a Firefox problem, or the fact that I keep my text pretty large, or a GoComics issue. I haven’t tested — but if it’s Firefox I’m still not leaving!

And 2.) the names replied to, rather than typed in, don’t show in the comments listed in profiles.

Okay Susan, you don’t like the Reply box. No problem. But if want the look of a reply simply create a link to their profile.

@SusanSunshineIt’s now part of your comment and you can reply to more than one person in a single comment. To build the link right click on the name of the user you want to reply to and select Copy Link Location. Then add the anchor tagset.

    <a href="http://www.gocomics.com/profiles/525255">&#64;SusanSunshine</a>

Note the &#64; in place of the “at” sign.I save them on a spreadsheet so I don’t have keep recreating them.
