As the hairs on the back of Rodgers head stood up ,He casualy paused ,fumbelling for his matches, He glanced over his shoulder, To realize he was indeed being followed buy a rather conspicuios fellow wearing a yellow bowtie……….
Ralph, Roger’s biographer had seen this before. Shirley’s understanding eyes and sympathetic smile had foretold the inevitable. What Roger had described as a nostalgic and epic journey of ineffable proportions; was somehow lost, given this journey began in the backyard. Roger’s modest disposition was further clouded by his brand new pipe and shoes. Roger’s discreet insertion concerning the years he hadn’t paid taxes and this being his fourth marriage soured the deal and turned Ralph’s attention back to the delicious mini-breakfast buns and the spiced international coffee served in the comfortable and inviting nook; surrounded by beautifully framed pictures of times past and wilderness trails, marked by unassuming poses of Shirley as she gazed skyward or reflected at the water’s edge. Her ankle/leg warmers spoke volumes of a rich and robust life. This statue of an energetic and hardy woman standing at the door, tantalized Ralph’s imagination. Who was this women and what had lead her into Roger’s life???
I have no comment on the cartoon, but I am compelled to say I didn’t think I’d ever find anyone with less important things to do than me (I?) but you guys win.

From what I’ve heard, Douglas doesn’t have the literary gifts of a perfect Boswell….
but then, I suspect that Roger’s no Dr. Johnson.

I grew up with Roger Bailey. The problem I have is I can’t believe his life is any more worthy of a “biography” than mine is……

I think Roger’s biograph has long since peaked.

My brother would like one of these, as long as the biographer used a pompous, wordy, exaggerating writing style.
