not only do pluggers clean their ovens. but many plugger males also can repair a loose connection if one occurs for a heating element. talking wire connection in the back of the oven. or if it is a stove/oven those as well.many pluggers do not trust the oven to not catch on fire if the self cleaning command is used.
Look at it this way: half of the people in this country were born after the mid-1980s, and they therefore think of anything before then as “history”…quaint, irrelevant, and mostly boring. The rest of us are old enough to remember first-hand that life actually could have been rich and fulfilling before 1975…modern conveniences notwithstanding. (Yes, itisme, I’m talking to you.)
@itisme: These days there’s no choice. If something breaks down beyond repair, you have to buy it new so it will last longer. Unfortunately, a GE refrigerator I bought 5 years ago, died. Had to what 5 days before the new one arrived. Again, unfortunately, it’s a GE. It just better last longer than 5 years.
When we use the self-cleaning feature of the oven, and it takes literally hours, we have to put our bird and his cage down the hall in a room away from the deadly fumes. Those same fumes can kill your fishies too, if they get pumped in via the air supply. Not sure what they do to pluggers. Brain damage? Nah, too late for us.

Some of us can even take off the lens and change that pesky little oven light bulb that burns out every decade or so.

I can remember when we had a wood stove, had to clean the ashes everey day. I kinda miss that.
