For some reason cobras in lion country (on the savannah) will kill unprotected lion cubs, not only on no provocation but on the snake’s apparent initiative. I remember watching a documentary following a pride of lions and wondering what on earth that was for.
So the horse is going to come back and kill the snake with his hooves. This is pushing it a little too far. Then again these strips were designed for an audience of teenagers and then all of this will make sense. In those years Trigger was a star.

In my experience snakes only strike to defend so I doubt this scenario. From the land of many poisonous snakes down under.
