Has been many years since I last read it, but this seems to be reminiscent of part of “Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar”, except he had amnesia in that one when he came across the burning house.
Where’s the Jungle FD when you need it?
Maybe a band of renegade comanches crossed the Atlantic and burned the setlement, Tarzan should call the nearest fort.
