I thought I'd try chili con carne tonight, dear, with Spanish rice and cornbread. How does that sound? Delicious! It certainly does- but go easy on the chili!
When I was a kid, I had a friend who always tried to one-up me. When he told me that his father had a radio that could pick up stations in other states, I told him I could sick myhead out the window in December and get Chile.
Sorry guys, in the UK it’s C-H-I-L-L-I….and Fred is well and truly English and all that……..blame the import agents………xNext you’ll be wanting to spell COLOUR without a U !!!…….

By “Spanish rice”, does she mean paella (don’t know how well THAT would go with chili), or the stuff generally served (as side) in Mexican resto’s?

Chili refers to the Tex-Mex dish with beans and hamburger. Chiles are what you put in it, if you’re from New Mexico. And the Brits spell it “chilli.”
