Heh heh…She must live in Southwestern PA. They’re always warning us that we’re doomed, people rush to strip the grocery stores bare of toilet paper and bread, then most of the “big storms” miss us.
Oh, Agnes, it’s a shame you have to learn at such a young age that you can’t place your faith in a weathercaster. They are only in it for the acting experience.
I grew up in the Midwest. Loved learning, hated school. (Homeschooling was faaar in the future in those days). The cosiest feeling on earth was going to bed with the knowledge that school would probably be cancelled the next day. Somehow the big snows always started in the afternoon or evening, then. And waking up knowing school was cancelled was the most freeing feeling on earth.
Don’t recall ever getting a snow day. But we did get a “hurricane” day in Nov1964. Power was out for a week. Our next “hurricane” was Dec 15, 2006. Lost a lot of trees. (we don’t really have hurricanes on the west coast. Just winter storms with hurricane speed winds, on occasion)
I live in Alberta, Canada. About 30 years ago I worked for a company whose Head Office was in Idaho. One winter, they got about an inch of snow and the whole city shut down. Over an inch of snow. We laughed till we cried.
