There would be even more bilingualism if we had two official languages like more civilized bicultural nations do. We have some 20% first language Spanish and the xenophobes want English only. Switzerland has four official languages, Romish used by only 2%, Latin on stamps, and to graduate, one must be fluent in their own, another official language, and any third one (generally English).
