I quit smoking on a 3 pack a day habit 30 years ago by promising myself a cigarette in 5 mins if I really needed one. Then at 5 mins doing that again. By 1 year I had upped that to one hour. I didn’t officially say I quit until about 5 years ago. It worked, quit by just doing it a few minutes at a time.
I inhaled enough second hand smoke over the years from my parents to give me migraines after I got married and had a smoke free environment they went away. Unfortunately my father took twelve years to die from emphysema struggling for every breath. If you smoke QUIT, if you don’t smoke DON’T START.
The thing I hate most about smokers is that they attract Smoke Nazis. After quitting smoking, my uncle Norbert pestered everybody with his, “I quit smoking. You can do it too. Cigarettes will never hurt me!” I guess not, because on his birthday he got run over by a Chesterfield cigarrette truck. They don’t make them like that anymore.
Anyone else remember Arthur Godfrey? And the time he was telling about the new H Taringtons that had just introduced the filters? And how much smoother they were to smoke? And how the men in the control room were waving at him? —-Since his sponsor for that segment was Chesterfields?

Being of the inbred hillbilly persuasion, I had a “dipping” habit. One day I just said, this is my last can. 5 years later, still tobacco free.

Having trouble quitting smoking? Buy a pack of Turkish cigarettes. (Camels are a mix of Turkish and Domestic – imagine what a 100% Turkish is like!)
