I say deal dad. I picked my job. I didn’t pick my school as a kid. I’ll go with all the bull my job has over school any day.

Enjoy life while you still can, kid. Things don’t get any better when you grow up.

Some people grow up. Others just get taller. There are a lot of very tall children where I live.

Just as well Dad focussed on the good bits. His little mind would have exploded otherwise.

Calvin, unlike most kids, heard Dad speak of responsibilities on which income is spent. Most kids see only the stuff (read cars or clothes) they can buy.

He is not going to age… This is the good side of being a comic strip character :)

Calvin definitely has a ot to learn, surprised Hobbes doesn’t have any insights. Love Calvin’s face in the last frame LOL

Actually, Calvin and Hobbes are going to spend the rest of eternity exploring on that sled.

You’re all so negative. Had my ups and downs in 76 years, still enjoyed a lot and will keep doing so. It is all as you take it. Your decision.

My doctor, when I was a kid, said that to me when I was complaining about some school assignment. Now, I tell my kids that they only have to deal with a disliked teacher for a semester (or maybe a full academic year), but a horrible boss can go on and on and on for years until either s/he leaves for one reason or another or you do.

Only go fishing is better!

I’ll take being an adult over being a kid any day. More responsibility but all of the choices are mine to make. You are in control (for the most part) of your life, as a child you have no control and no say.

The only thing wrong with that picture, Calvin, is having the whiny kid… which is you.

Calvin….just be happy your not an adult.

I’m with B-the-red, working beats school in all ways except the long summer vacations—miss those. But work to earn money beats work to earn grades any day of the week.

If someone had convinced me the best years of my life was being a kid in school while I was one myself I would’ve killed myself, literally. Luckily no one did so I knew it would get better, and it did.

Sarcasm wins over hysterics.

I was told young was the greatest,I did not believe them now I know the truth,but I would do it the same any ways.

But then you miss out on the joys of grandkids!

Everyone has been optomistic so far – ie with a job that pays 5% less than your expenses – and then the business goes overseas – and every creditor thinks he should be paid first.

And how about those help wanted ads that state up front – If you’ve been unemployed over six months, don’t bother to respond!

Calvin’s face reminds me a bit of my grandfather, although he had a much better attitude towards life than Calvin does….

Workers revenge: Years ago, a maintenance worker at a specialty meat packing plant in Hannibal, Mo. was in hospital a week or so. When he returned to work, he was told that he was no longer needed – hit the road and don’t come back.But, he did come back – his next job:USDA meat inspector!(Glad I’m retired)

Some people got wiser, I just got older.

Being a kid is the better part of a human being’s life

Feel fortuanate your father has a job. Other fathers aren’t so lucky these days.

Memories of childhood vary from person to person. On the whole, if they are good memories of playing and being with friends, they may seem like the best years of your life, but all life has it’s own joy, if you live it well.

it’s " ’til " not " till ". A till is something you put money into or do to the soil. ’Til is an abbreviation of until. I know that this strip is an ancient repeat, but it would be nice if we could use the language properly…
