Morning, Anniephans! Oh, yeah. Annie knows all about Child Welfare and the County Home. Interestingly, she was never involved in the orphanage “hard knock life” during Maeder’s time as writer. And I don’t think the orphanage ever played into Leonard Starr’s stories either. So today’s strip is tying the modern Annie to the ancient Harold Gray Annie.
Anyone else see what’s coming? The bad guys are vowing to do something to little Dorie Dearie in retaliation for letting them down. Now Annie will be with her when they arrive.
I’ve never seen a real orphanage only those in old Hollywood movies, which pictured them as terrible. The teachers were unloving old hags who mistreated the children. Of course Hollywood has been known to overblow things. In this case I hope so. But maybe not.

Ancient? “ANCIENT?!!!” I used to read Harold Gray’s Annie in the funny papers when I was a kid, so watch your lip. And all you kids, get off the lawn!
