Anyone know the date on this strip? Looks like ’65. Amazing to think that skateboards were already around. I think Schultz, living in CA, was ahead of the curve here. Early on, the boards were pretty closely associated with surfboard culture, a way to have fun when the surf was poor.
Skateboards were indeed around in the ’60s. There was an episode of Get Smart from 1967 that featured Peter Robbins (the original voice of Charlie Brown) on a skateboard.
Snoopy can play baseball, play a guitar, fly a plane, ride a skateboard and so many other cool actiivities. Like I mentioned yesterday, Snoopy is a human with a dog’s body.
I did some archive (*) digging and this strip is appearing very near original appearance, 29th of March. Year of course was 1965 at the first time.Snoopy is very aware of latest fads as we will see later. :)
Archive here being The Complete Peanuts, 1965- 1966. Highly recommended.
Hey there is a bulldog in real life that uses a skateboard but not like snoopy does The bull dog uses it almost like a skateboarder would. Starts out one paw on the skateboard and when he finally push off he has paws on the board
