No unbridled cackling from readers of our local comics page… they’re not funny anymore (nor do they run The Knight Life).

i learned to read in order to read the funnies. Decades later I read a Far Side cartoon to my son (the one about the guy trying to lasso a squirrel in his wooden leg) and he wanted to learn to read, too.
