Hattie was always brash. She was introduced to shake things up and be a bad influence on Wilberforce. A comic strip’s purpose is to entertain, not teach. However, I’m in agreement, kids should adress adults by Mr or Ms. I find it disrespectful when the cashier at the bank calls me by my first name as if she knows me.

Is she going somewhere? She has her broom.

I’ve given many children that I know well permission to call me by my first name. It makes things less awkward at times.Perhaps this is the case here.

I thought Hurricane Hattie was some relation to Gladys, Brutus, and Will. That’s why she addressed them by their first names. She must be one of their cousins.

Then it would be considered child abuse.
