Walking around all day trying to give everyone head but no one bites on the offer..(Never thought I’d use a statement like that in context of anything.)
OK, Marge is right! It IS Judith and Holofernes in spite of the expression. http://mydeejay.deejay.it/contenuto/Gaspare-Traversi-%22Giuditta-e-Oloferne%22/387657The one I knew is the Caravaggiohttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Caravaggio_Judith_Beheading_Holofernes.jpg is a better representation which I had already seen.
Rewriting what I wrote 9 hours ago (too early, same links, different words — I really miss the Edit button):Enlarged (actually has larger size), also available from here, but under a different title. Both say (this discusses painting as well) it was painted in 1760; he was at most 10 in 1732. So far, only work by this artist to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog.
@Dogsniff,I’d totally support Mabrndt (tho I wish his name were more memerable). I’ve had to resort to doing my own searches and most are on Wiki. I hate to bother with the extra step to convert to short URL and anything more than that is a “foggrdaboudit”. I hope posting links to Wiki etc won’t already get me blocked. If Steve Melcher did not have his magnifier blocked, it would not be necessary or if he would provide the original title in small print in parenthesis for those of us enjoying a brush up in art history.
Incidentally, vidazzle, if you do go to his profile the art information posts can be seen there. We just can’t see them here. Since you are nice enough to be filling in that might save you some time.
Thanks for the info; I was wondering why he suddenly disappeared. Consider me to have jumped on the bandwagon (or should that be “banned” wagon?). E-mail has been sent; this one is just STUPID!

Go to your own profile and in the address remove your number and put in his. There are probably easier ways that he could tell us and I can’t. :-)
