Bucky: Rob, tell satchel that eating dead bugs will make his head fall off! Satchel: Tell Bucky they're good for you! Rob: Eew. I wouldn't say they're good for you, but I suppose you can eat them in moderation. Bucky: Interesting. Satchel: Tell Bucky to stop sleeping with his face in the radiator. Rob: Well I wouldn't do it. But Ig uses it could be ok in moderation... Bucky: Now tell Satchel not to drink out of the toilet! Rob: Again, everything in moderation, but- Bucky: Did you say everything in moderation? Satchel: Wow! Is there anything they won't do in moderation? Rob: Uhhhh... Satchel: Moderation sounds like the most debauched place on earth! Rob: Ok, we can't continue this conversation. Bucky: I bet we could... In moderation! Satchel: Road trip!

Moderation…..A republican free zone…(sorry, couldn’t resist the set up. BTW, my cat enjoys moths as much as I enjoy banana splits….

Satchel is right that eating bugs are good for you. Just go ask Andrew Zimmern (though I personally never had a chapulín or a grub before). Bucky is right that Satchel should stop drinking out of the toilet.

So, Rob, how do you feel about shoplifting “in moderation”? Violence “in moderation”? War “in moderation”? Abuse, “in moderation”?
Yes there are limits. Some things are wrong, and they’re always wrong.

The way to get to Moderation is drive down the middle of the road. But that’s dangerous. As for literal interpretations (see above comments) that is the road to hell.

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”

Is Rob on something? He seems a little out of it…..I hope what ever it is, I hope he’s doing it in moderation…..

This one’s pretty wild. Of course, I’d expect no less from Bucky, Satchel, and Rob …

I think moderation is somewhere near Scots Dale.

As Heinlein books go, I prefer ‘Glory Road.’

All this talk about Moderation and stuff put me in mind of a song that was popular when I was a tad during WWII:
You gotta ac-cen-tu-ate the positive,Ee-lim-eye-nate the negative,Latch on to the affirmative,Don’t mess with Mr. In-Between!
(More to it than that – surely on Google somewhere, but it’s late here now.)
I didn’t understand it then, but now realize that the point of the lyricist was that moderation in considering WWII was a no-no.

This reminds me of being in the classroom and the “tattlers”. I especially like the tattlers who tattle while pretending to actually talk to the other kid. For example, the tattler might say, “Why are you drawing on the desk?” in a loud enough tone to be heard. Technically, it’s not tattling. Satch and Buck remind me of brothers…and tattlers.
