What makes you think that the recession was Carter induced?-I’m speaking of:Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982Highway Revenue Act of 1982Social Security Amendments of 1983Railroad Retirement Revenue Act of 1983Deficit Reduction Act of 1984Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986Continuing Resolution for 1987Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987Continuing Resolution for 1988

No, top earners wheren’t being taxed at 90% when Reagan was elected.

What makes you think that you have insight into my income or where it falls compared to others?
The rate was 94% during WW2 on income over $200,000 (approx. $2.49 million in 2008 dollars). It dropped to 91% in 1946 and remained there until the Kennedy tax cuts. So…. according to your math, at one point the top earners were paying 114%…. Right?
-No, my feelings didn’t get hurt. My emotions aren’t dependent on the opinions of people I’ve never met. This includes anonymous posters on internet forums. It’s pretty arrogant of you to assume you’re that important in my life.
-I was ‘there’ during the same recession, and didn’t see the factors indicating Carter induced it. And since I didn’t see them, and you won’t (can’t?) provide them, they must not exist.
-Things were indeed bad, and Reagan did straighten things out….by raising taxes to cut the deficit he incurred. He tried to imagine that tax cuts would pay for themselves, but the reality of his recession convinced him otherwise.
if abe was alive, he would wonder why southerners are in charge of his party. if teddy was alive, he would wonder why corporations rule america. if reagan was alive, he would berate fox news and the gop for being idiots.
A flower that is 30000 years old? But all the good christians scream that the world is only 6000 years old when they’re holding up their new testament and telling me what an awful person I am because I don’t do what they tell me.

Reagan? Reaganomics caused the current economic crisis. Obama’s major failure is lacking a magic wand to repair the whole mess in an instant.

30,000 years MAY be far enough back to relate to Santorum’s world view, especially as regards females.

doesn’t matter, even if the GOP could clone Reagan they wouldn’t vote for him with his track record :)
