This really isn’t the worst abuse Roy has used his Jedi trick to commit. I recall a time a few years back when Roy made Carolina, Dana, and Medusa stand around in their underwear when they kidded him about having those powers in the first place.
Yep, this is what happens when you try to get all the strips done in one weekend, and they feature lots of repeating words. So ‘Sulu’ switches places with ‘Spock’, and ‘Trek becomes confused with ’trick.’ By Saturday, we’ll see if I made it through without writing ‘Jedi Mind Trik.’
Only flaw in the theory is that, in 2004, Kyle was still drawing the strip. John and I had recently finished our run on The Rugrats strip- where we first worked together- and it would be 4 years before I joined WD. But it seems as if we used to have an editor who’d inform me if a mistake came through. Maybe they trust us just a little too much now.
My editing technique consists of having my mac read the gags back to me. Unfortunately I can’t do that with graphics. So once I see the drawn gag I am forced to rely on only my eyes for edits. Therefore I often read the gags as they should be not how they are. I would like to say Treck is cool term of endearment used by Roy, but nah it’s just another typo.
It is time for Roy to accept that the new cast are just younger versions of the TOS cast who will eventually mature and become the “better crew”. My problem is I can never get over the idea that star ships have breweries for engines. While it makes for better inter-steller keggers ( nod to MIB) , I just can’t believe the secret to FTL travel is beechwood aging™.
And considering that the original series was in constant danger of cancellation- a fate which finally did catch up to it, it took some time for even that cast to capture the public imagination as it since has. Once a struggling new show- now a classic. The entire show has aged like a fine brew. I suspect the movie will too, even if the flavor is different.
Nice, I didn’t catch that… of course, I was too shocked at Rita actually making SENSE… what’s up with THAT?!? I’m wondering if John and Scott drew the wrong person in there. Sheesh! ;-)

What ‘treck’? You are hereby banished from trekkie-dom! Twice in a week!

I support your hypothesis even as I object to the stereotyping – and any way, it must be Bangalore if it was outsourced … ;)

Here I thought that was deliberate on Roy’s part. Using Treck as a combination of Trek and dreck to describe the latest Star Trek film.

Rita is right! She is so right… worlds collide. But we should not be surprised that Rita knows rules, all the rules. Even the inane ones.
