We must stand up for our principles in real life…a web site is not an actual place. If you wrote to the site managers or started a campaign to have the site changed or taken down, you might be successful. Then a other one would take its place. We have to be realistic and “better the enemy you know than the devil you don’t.”
It’s not just about feminism, is it?And violence in comics – a bit of ‘splat’ never hurt anybody, I admit – the question is more about the way it is expressed.
Some of you are giving me diarrhea! I don’t need PC to know right from wrong. Or to know that cartoons and comics are fiction, not real life, and yes I find them entertaining. Esp the old Warner Brothers cartoons, violence and all. Andrea, you should be more worried about what is shown on television, movies, and over the internet these days, as opposed to what is in this comic strip.
Bullcookies…PC is the lazy person’s way of dealing with everything you just listed (and I am having some trouble with the last sentence – proofread much?) If you had said Education is the key to dealing with the ills of society, i may have found some respect for your opinion, but your blind worship of out-of-control PC (not to mention your apparent approval of 9 Chickweed Lane, one of the more pompous, pretentious and affected strips i have ever had the displeasure of reading) just affirms my reading of your own character. Oh, and if you DO have friends, and you find they all share your opinions, then trust me, you don’t have any friends…
When you said to @gmartin997 that ‘diarrhoea’ was the “correct” spelling, you were almost half-right. Actually, the dictionary says that both spellings are correct, but lists ‘diarrhea’ first. The preferred spelling is always listed first. (What does this have to do with Andy Capp?)
that’s an absurd point of view, cartoon violence not cause children to become violent, I’ve enjoyedcountless hours of it and to date have harmed noone in the last half century of life. I also never smoked, though enjoyed many cartoons the depict smoking (hint, if your parents smoke or are violent in the home, yyou likely will be too). PC is not necessary for anything, we need to quit pandering to psychological marshmallows.

Violence on the street, battlefield, in the home: BAD.
Violence in a cartoon, in a book, in a comic: NOT REAL.
Most of us can tell the difference and those who can’t will usually be aggressive by nature.
