The NPR segment where they talked to a rep from E.B. and compared it with Wikipedia was interesting. And though somewhat less direct that gaming Google searches, it’s possible to get incorrect stuff to stick in Wikipedia by finding (generating) a lot or references for it.
EB is online. As said in an article in my local paper, there’s way too much history to put in actual paper encyclopedias. The volumes would just keep increasing to report it all. With EB online, the updates would be easier and consistent.
