Kittens are a gateway animal. They look harmless but they aren’t. One kitten leads to another. Next thing you know your curtains look like bathtowels and your bathtowels look like a collection of knitting mistakes.
Yes, it is tough. At one point I had three pony-sized dogs, four cats, an aquarium full of fish, and two dagus. I’m down to three cats, and I intend to hold the line even though my daughter is campaigning for a dog. Of course, those adorable pictures of shelter dogs she shoves under my nose are hard to resist…
…at this point in my life, due to various events, I am unable to afford a new cat (my last one has been gone almost 2 years now) but I am looking forward to the day when my finances are in shape again – it will be an older cat, from a shelter; for some reason, I am not a fan of kittens. (I did almost break down over the weekend, there was an add in the newspaper from the local shelter for an older cat who was deaf, but I held firm – I SO hope somebody went and got the old guy…)
I’m already bugging my hubby for a lab once our husky dies (I DO love her). Hubby says no to another dog – I say our 2 year old will want a doggie – doesn’t every little boy need a doggie?

Sorry, I forgot to say that boys and girls need pets – even if it’s a kitty (I always wanted a cat).
