I say a prayer everyday for the unemployed and those on the brink of it. I have never seen it so bad in the workplace. I am so glad I am retired so I cant be booted. Hope Betty’s job is ultimately safe.
Betty got laid off once before, when she and Alex worked together at the same company where Alex met her husband. I remember they were let go in the middle of the day, after which they went to a Toronto Blue Jays game.
A while after that (months or years, I can’t remember) they opened their own bagel business. I think that must’ve gone out of business eventualy? But I don’t remember what happened or how she came to be working for someone else again.

…like when our team released one of the greatest QB’s of all time- I suppose we will deal with that….but it still hurts

I thought Betty and her friends owned a bagel shop. How can her job be at risk when she’s one of the owners?

Its what you say when you realize things haven’t been that bad.
