Chimps have been featured on famous TV shows and movies. How can we forget Cheetah from the old Tarzan movies. Then there was Judy the chimp from Daktari. I liked the chimp named Mr. Stubbs in Toby Tyler-a Disney made oldie.
Ethological studies have shown that chimps wage tribal warfare over territory, as well. And mass murder and large-scale pollution are out of reach due to technological limitations, not inclination; because chimps in the wild also kill chimps from other groups whenever they catch them and sh** in their own water supplies, for example. They are indeed our close cousins.
Including yours, gmartin997. Genetically there isn’t a whole heck of a lot of difference between you and any other African, and that is a simple biological fact, not an insult.
Murders are chimps’ closest aspect to humans — see https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-29237276 . “Apart from humans, chimpanzees are the only primates known to gang up on their neighbours with lethal results”

“Just because they have opposable thumbs doesn’t make them intelligent.” The same thing could be said of most of humanity.

Maybe they are bonobo chimps? Though I guess we still have some things in common with them too, just different things :)

“Polluted a stream”? Call me nuts, but don’t chimps pee in rivers all the time? ;-)
