Just because we seek the advice of a psychiatrist doesn’t mean we have to like them. Let me re-word that… “Just because we seek psychiatric advice…” (because she is not a psychiatrist.)
My husband used to tell me this constantly. That was after he would say, “I married you, not your family!” It was his excuse not to come to family events. Lucy is right. Just because you were born with them, doesn’t mean you have to put up with them.
For years, a debate has been going on to eliminate the penny, as Canada decided to do earlier this year. When this strip is rerun in 2300-something, I wonder if the nickel will still be around.
Note to Lucy: There’s a lot of protein in that and if it’s dry dog food it will probably help keep your teeth tartar free. So, don’t complain too much.
Where would Snoopy keep any money on him? The Bible says we have to love one another. In due time, Snoopy made up with his family. It was during a much later strip.
She’s lucky he didn’t pay her with bird seed. She would have been fighting off a bird coming in one direction while another bird stole the food from another direction.
What else would Snoopy have but dog food to pay her in? It’s called payment in kind, like doctors who used to charge a bushel of potatoes to deliver a baby.

That second panel is very true. There are some people in families that we cannot stand.

At least she wasn’t counselling a stablehand; then she really might not like what she gets paid in!

It’s your own fault, Lucy.

Is that Snoopy’s subtle way of telling Lucy that she’s a B**** – or rather a female dog? Might explain those kisses he gives on her.

What’s wrong with a payment in dog food? It is not stale food. It is current (currency).

That seems like a LOT more than 5 cents worth! Well… maybe back in the 60s (or so) when this originally ran? Not sure how much it was back then. :-s

Well she’s advising Snoopy, not Charlie Brown.
