Couldn’t swear to it, but I’d imagine “thumb” is pretty “official.” I mean, an orthopedist might refer to “first finger, second finger,” and so on, but I’m guessing that a thumb is a “thumb.”
Actually, s/he’d probably use the Latin, but even there it’s set apart, as pollex. (rather than one of the digiti).

It was “Little Finger” in Canada when I was wee. I never heard “Pinky” until I lived in the ‘States. But now it’s common.
