I respectfully disagree. To me, hockey is at least as exciting as football—fewer breaks in the action (no huddles, subbing on the fly, virtually no timeouts), fewer TV timeouts (is it me or are there more TV breaks now in the NFL than there were 10 years ago?), nearly as much hitting, close plays all the time.
@jjbmlawYou’re a baseball fan and you still like George Carlin’s football routine? That’s pretty amazing. (I wonder why there is only ONE famous baseball routine: “Who’s on first.” Yet TWO famous football routines: Andy Griffith and George Carlin.)

…except for those of us who’ve been following it all season long, of course.

Calling a dumb player a “cement head” has been a personal favorite for years.

I’ve always liked Olympic hockey more than the NHL. Seems like more strategy, fewer fights, more “flow” to the game.

Wonder how George Carlin would have handled “chippy?” As baseball fan, I think he got the difference with football spot on.

Hockey is a much better sport watched in person than on TV.

Gotta bring Henny Youngman into this: “I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out!”

Only in hockey can you have pads on and still get knocked silly by a guy going 30 mph , Soccer a slower version of another low scoring game.

The NHL needs to ignore its inner Don Cherry and embrace its inner Ken Dryden.
