Back in the day, our rockets were made from aluminum or steel tubing, and burned homemade mixed and cast propellant. None of the cardboard tube and pre-made “engines” of today. Some went to an altitude of 45~50,000 feet according to the telemetry.Sure can’t do things like that anymore, with the exception of an annual event at White Sands, and perhaps others at deserted locations.
When we were assigned to build rockets in science class, we didn’t have any run-ins with aircraft. Jason and Marcus must have been victim of bad timing.
